Morning Light<\/h2>\n

Last week Little Piney was so alive with spring migration that I was up before sunlight listening to birds. \u00a0Spring migration at Little Piney Bastrop TX is an exciting time! \u00a0Up early every morning, I also got to see the sun rise through backlit trees.<\/p>\n

Black and White Warbler <\/div> <\/div> <\/div> <\/div> <\/div>\n

Other birds heard but not seen at Little Piney last week include Swainson’s Thrush, Oven Bird, Yellow Warbler, Magnolia Warbler, and Chestnut-sided Warbler. A cool front seemed to drop them straight into our woods for a couple of days.<\/p>\n

White Ibis Flyover<\/h2>\n

I didn’t even know about the White Ibis until this one flew over! \u00a0The bird was very far above,\u00a0\u00a0but can be easily identified by the long curved bill and black wing tips.<\/p>\n

Another cold snap is coming tomorrow, so maybe more migrating birds to come!<\/p>\n

Cedar Waxwings<\/h2>\n

Cedar Waxwings will soon be migrating North. \u00a0Had I not\u00a0seen this cloud of Cedar Waxwings land, \u00a0I would never have noticed them among\u00a0the pine cones.<\/p>\n

Green Kingfisher Pair<\/h2>\n

One of the year-round treasures at Little Piney is a pair of Green Kingfishers. \u00a0I got these photos on Friday morning–the first time I’ve captured\u00a0both in the same photo.<\/p>\n
